TLC Care Homes have received some welcome recognition for the high catering standards they provide for residents.
Hotel Services Manager, Jade Smith, from Candlewood House Care Home, London, has just taken part in a ‘Chef 2 Chef’ interview with the Senior Development & Application Chef of Kerrymaid, Richard Troman. Kerrymaid invited outstanding chefs in diverse settings to take part in a new series of interviews created to showcase the role of chefs on social media.

As Hotel Services Manager, Jade coaches, supports and leads the catering team at Candlewood House. Prior to this, Jade was Head Chef for TLC Care at Camberley Manor Home. In both roles the focus is on producing a wide and varied menu to meet all of the residents’ dietary requirements. Homemade meals are freshly prepared and served daily alongside a bistro stocked with home made cakes and savoury snacks.
In 2022, Jade was crowned South East Chef of the Year at the Great British Care Awards and the National Association of Care Catering Awards. She has now progressed to the National finals of The Great British Care Awards – an outstanding achievement which helped bring her to the attention of Kerrymaid.
Jade’s interview centred on everyday operations and leadership of a catering team within a care home environment. Topics included the processes involved in catering for multiple requirements including dietary and medical needs together with the importance of nutrition and hydration. The interview was filmed and will form part of a series for Kerrymaid’s social media campaigns featuring highly recognised chefs in the hospitality industry.
